Important Update for CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Advantage Essential (PPO) Members

Some CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Advantage Essential (PPO) Member ID cards were issued with an incorrect prefix of MJX. The correct prefix is MXJ.

What You Need to Know:

• New ID Cards: We stopped sending out new ID cards on January 3, 2025. We will start sending them again around the end of January 2025. All members will get new cards with the correct prefix.
• New Members: If you are a new member with an effective date of February 1, 2025 or later, your card might be a little delayed, but you should still get it before your plan starts.

For Appointments:

• When you make an appointment, tell your provider the correct prefix is MXJ. They can check this on the Provider Portal.
• If there are any problems, ask your provider to call Provider Services at 833-536-2001 (TTY:711) for help.
