The first opportunity to select a PSHB plan will take place during Open Season in late 2024, and coverage under the PSHB health benefits program coverage will begin January 2025.

Postal Service employees, Postal Service annuitants and their family members who are currently eligible for coverage under the FEHB Program will be eligible for coverage under the PSHB Program.

If you are an annuitant entitled to Medicare Part A (typically at age 65) as of January 1, 2024 , and did not enroll in Medicare Part B, you and your covered, eligible family members may be able to participate in a six-month special enrollment period (SEP) for Medicare Part B that starts on April 1, 2024 and ends September 30, 2024.

Those who enroll during the special enrollment period (SEP) will not need to pay the late enrollment penalty. Individuals who qualify for the SEP will receive a separate notification before April 1, 2024.

  • Save on late enrollment penalties, up to 10% for every 12-month period that you didn’t have Medicare Part B.
  • Your FEHB or PSHB plan may waive its copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles for Part B services.
  • Some services covered under Part B might not be covered or only partially covered by your FEHB or PSHB plan, such as orthopedic and prosthetic devices, durable medical equipment and more.
  • Coordination of benefits between Medicare and your FEHB or PSHB plan, which reduces your out-of-pocket costs.
  • To enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan to see even great savings, you must have Medicare Parts A & B.

Yes, OPM has given FEHBP conditional approval to participate in the PSHB Program during 2024 Open Season. More information will be shared soon.

OPM will launch a new enrollment website for enrolling in a PSHB plan. Additional information on how to make elections using the new website will be available before the 2024 Open Season.
