The Learning and Engagement Center (LEC) is a collection of training material and educational resources about various topics of interest to CareFirst providers and their office staff. Our materials provide up-to-date information that will make working with CareFirst easier for you.

Our asynchronous learning resources are a quick and engaging way to learn more about topics that interest you, right from your desktop computer or mobile device. You can view these resources as often as you’d like, on your own time. There are no grades or tests associated with these materials.

Within the LEC site, you will find courses organized by course suites. These suites will contain courses as it relates to the main suite topic or practitioner specialty. Course offerings range from general administrative information to in-depth specialty courses. We offer these courses in a variety of formats including videos, interactive guides, and self-paced e-learning modules. You can also find recorded webinars, continuing education, and health equity courses.

Find a course suite or website section that meets your needs and/or interests. Then, simply click on the title to begin a course or view a resource. There are no fees to access our training materials.

Most courses can be completed in less than 30 minutes. The lessons are self-paced, which means you can begin and end whenever you wish.

An e-learning module can take many forms, but all have learning objectives to guide you through the lessons. Most have interactive exercises or questions to check your knowledge or understanding, and by the end you should feel more confident with the topic at hand.

In 5 minutes or less, our video tutorials will walk you through one specific topic. Topics may include updating your information on the provider directory, changes to our fee schedule tool, and more.

Our webinars and seminars are live training sessions that provide updates on changes at CareFirst and may include special presentations on select topics. Registration is required. Some webinars will also be recorded for 24/7 access. Simply click the title of the recorded webinar to view the session.

Our interactive guides contain detailed step-by-step instructions and screenshots on how to access and use different applications within the provider portal. You can find most of these guides within the CareFirst Essentials suite.

Different resources, such as interactive guides, will be linked within each module. You can refer to these resources as you work your way through the modules.
