Bryan Mulford, Vice President, Commercial Markets, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield
Bryan has supported insurance sales and employee benefit solutions for nearly 20 years. In his current role as Vice President of Commercial Markets, he is responsible for growth across our core and specialty portfolios. Bryan and his team are committed to fostering enhanced relationships with our brokers and consultants and bringing creative solutions to address unique customer challenges. Bryan has been with CareFirst for nearly a decade.

A practicing physician and top healthcare speaker, Dr. Ashish K. Jha, M.D., M.P.H, is recognized globally as an expert on pandemic preparedness and response as well as on health policy research and practice. He has led groundbreaking research around Ebola and is now on the frontlines of the COVID-19 response.

Brian D. Pieninck, President and Chief Executive Officer, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield
Brian joined CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield in April 2015 as Executive Vice President of the Large Group Strategic Business Unit (SBU). He assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer in May 2017 with responsibility for the organization’s four Strategic Business Units as well as Technology & Operational Support Services. In May of 2018, Brian was unanimously selected by the CareFirst Boards to become the President and CEO, beginning his leadership of the company on July 1, 2018. Prior to joining CareFirst, Brian was a member of Aetna Inc.’s executive team, where he held key leadership positions during a 19-year tenure, including Director of Professional Employer Organizations, President of Southeast National Accounts, and President of the Americas for Aetna International. Brian serves on the Boards of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, Federal Employee Program Board of Managers (FEP BOM), Sharecare, Inc., the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore (EAGB) and Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC). Additionally, Brian serves on the Board of the Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare (CAQH) and is Chairman of the Board of Trusted Health Plans, Inc. and Trusted Health Plan (District of Columbia), Inc. Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Studies Business Administration from Southern New Hampshire University and is a graduate of Leadership Maryland’s Class of 2016. A native of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Brian and his family currently reside in Baltimore County, Maryland.

Mary Jane Favazza, Chief Executive Officer, Atlas Health, LLC
Mary Jane brings nearly 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry. She’s lent her passion and expertise to both start-ups and growth companies. Throughout her career, Mary Jane has focused on patient support, advocacy and innovation in primary care models and beyond. She served as General Manager for Haven, a joint venture to provide low-cost, high-quality healthcare. She served as Chief Revenue Office for Good Measures prior to her role at Haven. Her passion for care delivery extends to her personal life. Mary Jane serves on the Board of Directors for the nonprofit organization Racing Unlimited, Inc. The 501c3 hosts marathon events to fund pilot research for finding treatment and a cure for polycystic kidney disease. Mary Jane earned a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Smith College. When she’s not championing for equitable care delivery, you can find her in her garden, exploring nature or cooking with her family. She also loves a good movie or live musical performance.
